A shark gives a diver a high-five. Eli Martinez was interacting with the lemon shark in the balmy waters off the coast of The Bahamas. Eli, who works as the editor of Shark Diving magazine, said: “This particular shark I had encountered before. She is very laid-back so I knew if I held my hand out she would come over. At first she was swimming straight towards me, but I didn’t expect her to turn at the last moment. She tapped my palm with her fin like we were high-five-ing.” Picture: CATERS NEWS

FILMS ON FRIDAY

Memento - Directed by Christopher Nolan

Tonight I’m crawling out onto a bit a of a limb in an attempt to coax you from the safety of the film tree’s trunk.  You may have already seen this movie, but if you haven’t, you’re in for a ride.  Simply one of the best young directors of our time, Christopher Nolan (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception) hits an inside the park home run with his 2nd feature film Memento.

Dark and mysterious, Guy Pierce leads a cast whose story sends you sprinting down a spiral staircase.  The layers in this film truly expose Christopher Nolan’s genius and conceptual depth (with help from his oft-collaborator, brother Jonathan).  I challenge you to dig in and solve the riddle with me tonight.  Oh, and if you’ve seen the film, no spoilers please!

“I have this condition…” - Leonard Shelby
